Recycling Challenge
The Recycling Challenge was introduced by Mr. Agar, one of our Supervisory Aides, in connection to the Week of Respect in October. At the end of each lunch period daily, students are encouraged to place their recyclables into a plastic bin. Mr. Agar then records the number of recyclables that each grade level collects daily. Grade levels are updated of their progress each week and at the end of the month, the grade level that has recycled the most earns the Recycling Challenge trophy, a half sheet of Buzz Bucks, and a reward activity. The challenge has created environmental awareness for our school community. Our students know that they can do their part to help and they know that even though they are young, they can still make a difference. Our 3rd graders were the Recycling Challenge winners for the month of October, and our 4th graders won the challenge during the months of November, December, January, February, and March. As a school community, we have recycled over 17,000 plastic bottles and containers so far this year! We are proud of our students for doing their best to make a difference!
